Description: Excellent bronze work in open technique, depicting a stylized deer who is, possibly in frenzy, turning his head back. From the bottom it is attacked by a big bird on the belly. The scene is framed by a rectangular border with ear bands. On each of the four corners a large rivet. On the back an eyelet and a hook suggesting the bronze work to be a belt buckle. These open bronze works are mostly described as Caucasian and were found in the area of today’s Georgia. A very similar model can be found in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, accession number 21.166.5.
