Condition: A larger break on part of the ancient base with part of the rock, as shown on the photo. The rear paws of the lion also broken. Figures otherwise intact with beautiful green patina.
Description: Hollow worked bronze statuette of the nude Heracles. The god seats on a rock, holding in his right hand a club over his shoulder. With his left hand grabbing a relatively small lion behind his mane which presses his fore paws against the god’s thigh. The bearded Heracles has a slightly oversized head and wears a lion coat over his shoulder, cascading along his back. The lion with detailed features, full, long crest and tail. Parts of the original base are still preserved. Extraordinary provincial style! Mounted.
