Provenance: Ex-collection W. S., Munich, Germany. Acquired 1979 at Galerie Waldner in Munich.
Condition: Several smaller holes in the corpus restored, minor indentations on the surface. The vertical handle reattached. Overall a monumental bronze vessel dating to the Greek classic period.
Description: Very large bronze kalpis, a special form of a hydria, used for transporting water. The pear-shaped body with a very broad shoulder on a round, multiple-times profiled foot. On the sides two handles, a third one from the neck to the shoulder. The rim of the spout decorated with pearls- and eggs pattern. Beautiful green patina.
