Description: Wonderfully preserved mummified head of a stork with a closed, tapered beak. The eyes were removed. Remains of the tousled plumage are still preserved on the back of the head. Storks stood for piety in the Egyptian mythology. But the stork also personified Ba, the personality of the individual, the unique character of a person. Since this head has remains of gilding it possibly crowned a mummified bundle of bird mummies, where the head was placed in the other direction of the mummy, as if the animal was sleeping. Mounted.
