Description: Massive limestone relief of a high-ranking royal official. The high-quality relief depicts him facing to the left with a long, tapering wig. His left arm is bent in front of the chest and holds a rank staff. To the right two vertical registers with hieroglyphs mentioning his title and part of his name. The translation reads: “Grand royal administrator, governor of the treasury, governor of the cattle, Ptah-mose.” An administrator with this name during the reign of Ramses III is known with a statue in St. Petersburg. Since the relief style fits well to this period it is possible that the present object is another memorial for the same person. The combination of the functions is elsewhere also verified for “grand royal administrators”. See: W. Helck, „Zur Verwaltung des Mittleren und Neuen Reiches, 1958, Nr. 34. Mounted.
