Condition: A very minor ancient wear on the beak, otherwise intact and beautifully preserved.
Description: Hand formed beak-spouted jug of the so-called White Painted Ware dating to the Middle Bronze Age in Cyprus. The jug with a flattened base, round corpus and long neck. The spout is formed as a bird’s head with a long beak. The semi-circular handle begins on the neck and reaches to the shoulder. The entire jug is adorned with dark brown geometric paint. On the corpus encircling bands of lines, nets and chains, as well as wavy lines. On the base a cross of parallel lines. The neck is decorated with upward-pointing triangles with dot decoration. On the sides, next to the spout painted eyes which underline the bird’s head of the beak-spouted jug. On the spout on the outside line décor and wavy lines.
