Description: Wonderfully iridescent glass flask with a pear-shaped body standing on a foot ring with a rounded rim, which is worked out from the wall. The neck is long and cylindrical. The rim at the spout is pulled out far and folded back in again. Striking is the separately worked out handle which starts far at the bottom of the body, rises up in a stair-shape and bulges up between the shoulder and the neck. The finale is slightly pulled folded back and could be interpreted as a serpent. From the Levant. See for the type the flask in: “Römisches, byzantinisches und frühmittelalterliches Glas – Sammlung Ernesto Wolf”, Hatje Cantz 2001, number 170.
