Description: Very sculptural terracotta protome in form of an archaic woman’s head. It possibly is a depiction of a goddess, who was worshipped with this votive relief in a temple. She wears a stephane with her centrally parted and tightly curled hair protruding. The eyes are typically almond-shaped. The prominent nose sits between high cheekbones and the small mouth is formed to a smile. On the sides long lobes of her cape and hair strands cascade. See for the type the protome in the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the Accession Number 61.11.7. Mounted.
