Provenance: From the estate of the French art dealer Evrard de Rouvre (1923-1979). Thence in the possession of his daughter Isabelle and her husband Francois van den Broek. Last in a family estate.
Condition: Minor indentations on the right side. A small hole on the left back side of the tail, otherwise intact.
Description: Hollow statuette of a standing bird which possibly served as an incense burner. The bulbous stylized animal with resting wings, a spherical head with a pointy beak, as well as long claws. The eyes and the centre of the wings with hallmarked indentations, which possibly once held inlays. The beak with a hole where the incense could escape.
