Description: Large black-brown rock with the imprints of two around 12-centimetre-long branches of the extinct Calamites. It is the sphenopsid foliage Asterophyllites Equisetiformis with needle-shaped leaves, which run concentrically around the stem. During the Carboniferous period tree-like horsetails such as Calamites as well as ferns formed huge forests and created the basis for most of today’s coal deposits. Found in Limburg, Belgium. On a custom-made metal base.
