Description: Expressive fragment of a very artistically female portrait with thick, bulging lips, a straight fine nose, almond-shaped eyes and softly featured lids. Protomes like this are said to be a depiction from Demeter or Persephone. They are a symbol of reincarnation respectively they stand for the return of Persephone from the Tartarus. Possibly from a Rhodian workshop.
Mounted on a sophisticated steel base.
