Provenance: Collection Nikola Javanovic, Vienna. Acquired in the 1960s. Since then in family estate. Accompanied by a TL test.
Condition: An old break on the cap, otherwise except for some wear intact and of excellent quality.
Description: Large clay figure of the Vinča culture with red and black pigmentation. The triangular head with the typical bulging eyes, as well as a long prominent pointy nose. On the back of the head a clearly contrasting, notched headwear. The arms are short and sideways standing out. The standing figure wears a black gown over the right shoulder finishing at the broad, expansive hips. On the jolted lower body a red skirt, in the front and at the back decorated with deep incisions. Around the neck an incised collar. The legs are not accentuated. Vinča figures such as this one were used for ritual purposes. Possibly from the region of Supska-Stublina. TL test from Professor Rudolf Erlach, University of Applied Arts Vienna of January 2018.
