Provenance: Collection Gustav Schütz, Vienna. Acquired between 1920 and 1935. Thence remained in the property of the family. With a handwritten provenance confirmation from the heiress.
Condition: Due to the age of the object numerous signs of wear, especially on the nose and mouth, but still of strong expression.
Description: Very finely worked wooden sarcophagus mask with abundant color remains. The heart-shaped face with curved eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes and full lips forming a smile. The nose is thin and straight. White color remains on the face as well as black pigments around the eyes. On the back thick remains of linen as well as an old collection label. Mounted.
