Description: Large wood sarcophagus mask of a man dating to the Ptolemaic period with beautifully preserved traces of colours and inlayed eyes. The roundish face with a prominent nose and a friendly smiling mouth. The eyelids and brows are inlayed in bronze, the eyeball in limestone and the pupils painted in black colour. The large ears protrude from the massive wig. The wood mask is covered with linen and plaster and painted in green. The colour green stands for the resurrection of the deceased and is in return to be interpreted as the equalization with Osiris, the highest god and the god of the dead. On a custom-made metal base.
