Description: Stylized bronze amulet of a mother with child from Iran. The woman wears a wide hat with flower-like decorations on the brim and a long dress that reaches to the ankles and is belted in the middle. The legs are short, and the feet have shoes with upward-curved tips. The woman has a narrow bird's face, typical of this region. Decorative bracelets adorn her arms and legs, and an opulent, wide necklace hangs around her neck. The mother holds a newborn child to her breast in her oversized, protective hands. What is striking is the long braid that falls far down her back to her buttocks. Above this, on the back of the neck, sits the semicircular eyelet over which the figure was worn as an amulet. Socketed.
