Condition: A rare vase of wonderful condition.
Description: Very finely worked out, black glazed alabastron, which stands on a profiled foot ring. In these vessels precious fragrances, cremes and oils were stored. The far protruding, slightly curved rim encloses a narrow opening, through which the pouring of the high-quality essences was regulated. The vessel has a rare decoration with the three encircling red lines, which are typical of the Laconian workshops around Sparta.
