Provenance: Collection Duroc-Danner, Geneva, acquired prior to 24 September 1968. Since then in family estate. The seal is listed in an inventory list established by Jean Vinchon, Paris, on 24 September 1968.
Condition: Intact
Description: On the upper side a sculpturally worked out seal of black marble depicting a very finely carved lionhead facing right. The eyes and ears are pierced, probably once with inlays of a different material. The animal’s back of the head semi-circular, the face with fine details. A vertical perforation to enable wearing the seal on a cord. On the underside a stamp indentation depicting two crouching animals.
