Description: Wonderfully preserved shabti dating to the reign of Ramses II the Great, which originates from the tomb of the Sem priest Hui. The servant figure in mummiform of white faience with black varnish wears a form-fitting vestment and has crossed its arms, adorned with bracelets, in front of the chest. Each hand holds a hand plow, around the neck is a multirow collier. Striking is the finely decorated sidelock of youth hanging down to the side, which belongs to the regalia of the Sem priests since the 18th dynasty. The wig and the chin beard are painted in black, around the forehead a white filet. On the back of the servant figure hangs the seed bag, left and right thereof alabastrons. The vertically running inscription in the front mentions the name and authority of the owner, the translation reads: “Osiris, the Sem priest of (god) Ptah, Hui, the justified.” Published in: André Wiese “Ägyptische Kunst im Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig”, Basel 1998, No. 67.
