Provenance: Acquired by a German collection from the US art market. Thence Hermann Historica auction on 21 April 2016, lot 4674. From there acquired by Claus-Eberhardt Schultze, Berlin, Germany.
Condition: Good metallic substance, iron is stabilised. Intact.
Description: Scythian short sword (acinaces) with a double-edged blade, rounded towards the tip. The middle ridge slightly arched. At the passage to the blade a heart-shaped guard. The hilt is three times ribbed, the massive, transverse iron pommel finely ribbed. Very beautiful example of the typical, Eurasian nomadic weapon, which was used until the 2nd century B.C.
