Provenance: Swiss private collection prior to 1981. On 1 May 1981 described by the Swiss archaeologist Hans Jucker (with a copy of the cover letter). Thence with Galerie Elsa Bloch-Diener in Bern, Switzerland. There listed in the catalogue with the number E56. On 18 February 1999 sold to Dr. Fred and Sylvia Legrain, Wabern, Switzerland. Thence in the family estate. With a copy of the invoice.
Condition: Unrestored with beautifully preserved colors.
Description: Late archaic, beautiful terracotta antefix in form of a youthful woman’s head with abundantly preserved paint. The roundish head with large, almond-shaped eyes with black pupils, above finely curved brows and a broad nose. The mouth is closed with red full lips, which are formed to a smile. The black, wavy hair is parted in the centre and frames the face. Below a drawn, black wavy line, which looks like a hairnet. From southern Etruria. Published in an inventory list of the Bern gallery Elsa Bloch-Diener with the number E56. With a description of the Swiss archaeologist Hans Jucker of 1 May 1981. On a heavy granite base.
