Provenance: Austrian private collection Prof. Josef Mairitsch (1938-1994) with the inventory number M151. Acquired between 1960 and the early 1980s. Thence in the family estate. With a copy of the inventory list.
Condition: Beak with very minor wear, otherwise intact and usable.
Description: Lovingly formed terracotta whistle in form of a flying owl. The bird with a round face, far protruding curved beak and deeply pierced eyes. The wings protrude to the sides, the body in flying posture with stretched out chest. On top of the head a small eyelet for suspension. At the back of the head the blowhole of the whistle, on the tail at the bottom the opening for the outflow of the air. The whistle is still working.
